Pope likens "saving" gays to saving the rainforest

Like I needed something to rant about today…and this Digg comes across my computer like a violent flame.

I have so much to say here – especially since about 45% of my clients are Catholic. Most of my work is undoing belief systems that damage the humanness of individuals from being made to feel completely wrong, ostracized, not to mention the deep emotional guilt that comes with it well into adulthood. Acceptance and love is what we should be advocating, not this type of rhetoric from a world-wide respected authority that people listen to and advocate, ultimately creating separation, hatred, disdain, and God knows what else. I live for the day when religious authorities take accountability and responsibility for their words and the cause and effect they have on humanity.
