Members of Reverend Newman’s clergy are not outraged, they are listening and heeding. I could feel the feeling of guilt when I watched the penance on the news this morning.

I am curious how the McCain voters are thinking/feeling/treating the Obama voters in this congregation.

I find this very interesting. Barrack’s stance is that he trusts women to make the right choice and to consult with their families, doctors, and clergy to help them with the difficult choice. He goes on to say that the focus should be on addressing the ‘root causes’ of unwanted pregnancy.

In my professional life, I spend a great deal of time with root cause analysis. We are so conditioned to fix with band-aids, that quick fix, that we lose sight of the bigger picture. Quite often, the problem resurfaces with different symptoms, which we band aid again. By analysing the root causes, prevention strategies can be implemented rather than spending time with avoidance strategies such that symptoms to the band-aids to the original problem are no longer necessary. Continuing to address the root cause of the problem in solution development usually resolves the issue(s), granted new issues do surface; however, forward movement is achieved in the process. Continuous Improvement is our journey in life – hence, Intent.com.

Kaizen principles can be applied here. Whoa, apply Kaizen to religion, politics, and in defining solutions for the general public…now that is something to consider.

Now I understand the desire to separate church and state more fully. It is about balance of power and has nothing to do with church or state. Keeping them separate, allows us to see the diversity of opinion, and allows us to make choices from being informed, choices that are right for us, and through seeing clearly.

I repeatedly see situations where the clergy puts their opinions in front of their congregation, the congregation members take the opinion on fully, even if they do not fully support it. In my work as a Relationship Coach, religious influence by members of clergy is at least 50% of the work that I do to help my clients arrive at peace in their lives. The power that clergy has over people is astounding and exerts influence from childhood to deathbeds. I spend a great deal of time separating what the clergy said from what the holy books say, allowing my clients to read the words for themselves and having them think/feel through their own interpretation of the words.

I feel that Joel O’Steen (www.joelosteen.com/Pages/Index.aspx) is so popular because he promotes the Word of God in a way that is full of Divine Love, influencing from a space of making a profound difference and removing himself from his personal agenda.
